The Circle

The circle is a two-dimensional shadow of the sphere which is regarded throughout cultural history as an icon of the ineffable oneness; the indivisible fulfillment of the Universe. All other symbols and geometries reflect various aspects of the profound and consummate perfection of the circle, sphere and other higher dimensional forms of these we might imagine.

The enigma of crop circles has been increasing for the past 30 years. Ever expanding to incorporate more impossible and intricate designs. It all began with a scattering of single and multiple circles. Now I am asked by students of this phenomenon "Why only little circles?" Some have even expressed disappointment when only the simple circles appear. I confess I have had these thoughts. We are still anticipating the more complex designs we see in the UK. Especially after the 440 foot 'Alpha and Omega' formation at Revenue Saskatchewan in 2003. See the gallery for pictures.

The first aspect that drew me into learning more about crop formations was their beauty. As you can see in the pictures on this site, they have a ridged curving appearance, as if water flowing in a vortex had been flash frozen. However each season the beauty of the formations we again astounds me. I am so grateful to be able to visit these events. We are always reminded that the concept of the simple circle evokes the genuine and simple beauty held deep in the heart of this awesome mystery.

I want to distingush right off the top that the phenomenon I refer to on this page is NOT what is polietly refered to as 'land art'. In many cases these are created by groups of people who are paid to do so . Others must do so out of some twisted desire to trick and confuse researchers, clouding any real investigation into the true phenomenon. The only ones making any money out of crop circles are those practicing deception, which is a very interesting comment on money and human nature.

I am lucky to be living in Saskatchewan. A province of Canada quickly gaining notoriety as the 'Wiltshire' of Canada. The county of Wiltshire in the U.K. sports the most formation each season.

Our formations are usually simple in design, though recently more complex lays have been arriving across the country. The huge 439 foot Revenue SK formation reported August 8th 2003 was the largest in Canada. Here in Saskatchewan there is next to no hoaxing, unlike in the U.K. Saskatchewn is virgin territory. I have been a member of the Canadian Crop Circle Research network since 1997 and have sampled formations for Dr. Levengood of Pinelandia Labs in Michigan. A new technique for measuring plant nodal changes called the L-NEAT (Levengood - Nodal Elogation Analysis Technique) based on the work of Dr Levengood has been pioneered by Jeffrey Wilson, M.S., Charles Lietzau Ph.D., Ted Robinson and Roger Sugden. This is a fabulous new tool based in hard science independant researchers can all learn and apply to new formations. More data is always welcome.

Lab analysis studies have repeatedly found unexplained biophysical anomalies in plant and soil samples taken from a large number of crop circle formations, including: swollen, stretched, burst or split nodes on plant stems in a manner similar to 'microwave energy effects' (rapid intense internal heating of the plant stems), dehydrated / shrunken seeds and significant changes in seed germination and growth rate (either faster or slower than normal). In some cases, otherwise normal seed pods are found to be empty (no seed development at all). These effects are not reproducible by conventional hoaxing methods (i.e. boards, rope, feet, etc.), and have been found in simple circles as well as some of the much more complex patterns.

Test circles made by researchers for comparison purposes and known man-made formations do not show these kinds of pronounced changes. It should be noted also that the node deformities are often found on still-standing stalks of crop inside a formation or around its perimeter, and are not simply the result of the flattened plants bending at the nodes back up to the sun (phototropism, which is a natural response of flattened plants to start growing upwards back toward the sunlight and is often observed in formations or any region of flattened crop, but does not account for the more pronounced deformities on both flattened and standing stalks).

A comprehensive preliminary report on these findings entitled 'Anatomical Anomalies in Crop Formation Plants' was published in October 1994 by biophysicist Dr. W. C. Levengood of Pinelandia Labs in Michigan and the BLT Research Team, in Physiologia Plantarum 92, a respected international scientific journal published in Denmark. Efforts are now being focused on being able to positively distinguish between man-made and 'genuine' formations. Their research has found that soils sampled from within and outside the flattened crop areas had significantly increased amounts of magnetic material mixed in with the soils;

In 1998, several formations in England were found to contain dead flies adhered to the plant stalks, which were dehydrated as if they had been 'baked', consistent with the involvement of some form of microwave-type energy. Smaller insects inside the seed pods were also dead. Flies and other insects outside of the formations were normal. A flattened dehydrated porcupine with it's quills woven into the crop was found in a Saskatchewan formation.

In recent years extensive soil sampling has been carried out at some cattle mutilation sites. These samples revealed sometimes massively increased amounts of magnetic material mixed in with the soils - as with the crop circle soils.

In a 1997 Colorado case submitted for analysis by Christopher O'Brien, massive amounts of micron-sized magnetite spheres were discovered during microscopic examination, particularly at the sampling site near the head area. The amount of such magnetic particles which might normally be expected to be present is in the range of 0.4 mg/gram of soil, but here a count of 284.3 mg/g was found. This count dropped off significantly in soils sampled farther away from the body, strongly suggesting that highly unusual magnetic fields had been associated with the event. Silica based materials & crystals also have been found in formations.

Soil Crystal Changes

Most exciting new news is that on preliminary X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) examination of illite/smectite clays in soil found increases in crystallinity or a greater ordering of the crystal structure. This is normally found only in sedimentary rock which has been exposed--for hundreds, if not thousands, of years--to both heat from the earth's core and the massive pressure of tons of overlying rock.

So what is it?

Sound and light are available in ranges far beyond our receptivity. More of the light spectrum exists than our simple simian eyes can perceive. Our ears hear only a limited range of frequency which is why we can't hear dog whistles. There must be things going on around us all the time, everyday that we cannot see or hear. Perhaps this is the realm of the technology used to create these beautiful forms. I don't know. But I am not prepared to make up my mind. I will stay open.

My personal theory on the circles is they are here now at this time in our evolution as a species to help us expand our consciousness. That they are created to awaken the Earth as well as our human biology (Physical, Mental, Emotional & Physical bodies) to increments in light and sound frequency we will soon be, if we are not already , perceiving. This increase if we choose to accept it. will help to restore balance to our planet. Healing our communities, as we are inspired by our collective history, new information bringing many needed novel ideas, allowing us to remember we can choose the way of peace and compassion.

The medium is the message with the circles. The fact that they are here and that they are unexplainable by our current understanding is a big part of their complex layered message. Opening minds to the possibility of other technologies and forms and codes of information. We must remember that science is magic we understand and magic is science we don't.

Due to the fact that plants are not killed during the creation of the patterns, I feel the technology used to create the formations must work directly with the 'chi' or kundalini life force of the plants themselves. The plants are coded to lay down as instructed by the technology. BOL's or balls of light that have been photographed at formations may have something to do with this communication to the plants. Again I don't know.

I would like to share an interesting analogy. Dr. W.C. Levengood has demonstrated that seeds from formations in immature crop will not thrive, however seeds from a mature crop will germinate faster, require less light and water and grow synchronistically. Compare this to the vast amounts of information contained in the formations we have received. Will our collective consciousness be mature enough to glean the gifts of information contained deep in the heart of this enduring mystery?

Crop circles seem to be asking us to open our boundaries of reality, take information from alternate sources and expand our perception of existence itself. The actual fact that these pictograms appear is very hard to accept but once one does the work is over, your paradigm is shifted and there is no turning back to the dark. Multiple layers of lessons and information lie in our fields. I have extreme gratitude for all those researchers and documentors who work very hard and are so extremely dedicated to one of the most important events in human history.
